The RCN’s Working Longer Project/Valuing Older Workers
In April 2015, the RCN was granted funding from the Union Learning Fund, for a one-year project to consider how unions and employers could work together, to develop learning strategies that could address some of the challenges that staff face as they work to their pension age.
The RCN has published this report along with Valuing Older Workers: A 10 Step Action Plan for Partnership Working. The action plan, includes steps to challenge perceptions, demonstrate commitment, understand learning needs and implement effective learning strategies, based around the key learning and resources identified during the project. It includes a list of tools, resources and activities that can support organisations to create a positive culture that values older workers and supports staff to prepare for working to retirement age.
